We are open to in-person services and although masks and distancing are no longer mandated by the provincial government,
we encourage their use.
Aylesford United Church, established in 1782, has a loyal supportive congregation which results in an average weekly attendance of 40+. Aylesford has a faithful Choir to assist with the ministry of music. Both Sunday worship and continuing pastoral care are the main focus for this congregation. At the same time, many opportunities to come together for Bible Study, church dinners, regular pancake breakfasts, as well as other activities are offered. We reach out to our youth through a strong Sunday School program. The United Church Women (UCW) is very active within the Church Community, and assists in many outreach endeavours as well.

Rev. Webster Vhembo. Bio to come!
The first Methodist services in the Aylesford area were conducted by William Black. A plaque in nearby Auburn marks the spot where the first service was held in 1782 at the Bowen Farm.
By 1815 Aylesford was part of an organized circuit consisting of Aylesford, North Kingston, Melvern Square, Margaretville, Greenwood, Nicholsville, Lake George, Lake Paul, Fairview and Morden. Over the years the boundaries changed, and gradually the Aylesford Pastoral Charge consisted of Aylesford, Greenwood Square and Morden.
The Aylesford area’s first “united” church was opened for worship in 1831, and known as the Aylesford East Chapel. The church was remodeled under the leadership of The Rev. William Ryan in 1882 and in 1917 the building was moved two hundred yards east to its present location. The cornerstone says “Methodist 1917”. With the unification of many Methodist, Congregational and Presbyterian Churches across the country, the Aylesford Methodist Church became the Aylesford United Church of Canada in June of 1925. It has undergone several renovations since then, including a larger kitchen in 1968, the addition of a large hall in 1986, and a new entrance in 1992.
Today we are a “one-point charge” with weekly Sunday services and continuing Pastoral Care. We have a Sunday School program and dedicated Choir. We support various outreach projects including the Mission and Service Fund of the United Church of Canada, and come together in fellowship and purpose at monthly breakfasts, yummy turkey dinners, annual yard sales and many other ventures.
